Topping The Trends: A Velour Tracksuit
Trends come in and out of fashion with today’s retail system but if an item is extremely popular it will become a wardrobe staple. Jeans would be one of the best examples of the past 50 years. The newest trend which is proving that it has staying power is the velour tracksuit.
The velour tracksuit seems to be staying put in stores unlike other trends. It has enjoyed seasons of popularity in the past however this time they have been around for a couple of years already. In modern fashion, two years or more in shops is like a lifetime.
Celebrities were the first to bring velour tracksuits into the mainstream. First it was Britney and her bridesmaids in embroidered baby pink velour tracksuits. Then footballer’s wives took on the trend during international competitions.
Now of course they are a popular outfit on any high street. They combine comfort and style which makes them a favourite. But you need to make sure that the tracksuit you wear is made of good quality velour. It should not change or lose its shape when you wash it. Also; you do not want the colour to fade during washing. The Tracksuit will be more trashy than trendy if the quality is bad.
Dark colours work best on tracksuits for adults as colours can look like you are trying to look younger than you are. Pinks, light blue and green are not for the over 20s. Flattering colours include black, brown and navy.
Children however look gorgeous in brightly coloured velour tracksuits. It is hard to find comfortable, practical and stylish clothes for young girls. When you can get all three in one outfit you have found a winner. When children have been swimming or doing activities they like to be able to easily pull their clothes on and off.
So with this in mind, take a look at tracksuits offered by different retailers. You will find some awful ones and the odd gem. If they specialise in velour clothing you are on to a winner.
